Sudhangshu Chairs Review Meeting, Emphasizes Self-Sufficiency in Livestock Products

Agartala, 6th October 2023:  In a significant development, a review meeting chaired by ARDD department minister Sudhangshu Das was convened at the Animal Resource Development Building in Gorkhabasti on Friday.

The Minister meticulously examined the performance of officials within the relevant departments and assessed the department’s strides in overcoming past challenges.

Speaking to the media post the meeting, Minister Das disclosed that this was the second review meeting held for the department. He sought detailed updates on the precision with which various projects under the Department of Livestock Development were reaching the beneficiaries. Additionally, he inquired about the progress made over the last three to four months.

Highlighting the core objectives of the department, Minister Das emphasized its commitment to animal protection and the aspiration to make the state self-sufficient in milk, eggs, and meat production. He acknowledged that while significant progress has been made, there remains room for improvement, particularly in milk and egg production.

Minister Das underscored the department’s unwavering focus on addressing this deficit, stating, “Our priority is to meet the growing demand for milk and eggs in the state. We are actively exploring strategies to bridge the gap and enhance production.”

The review meeting’s outcomes indicate a proactive approach towards bolstering the state’s livestock industry, aligning it with the overarching goal of ensuring food security and self-sufficiency in essential dairy and poultry products.
