Agartala, 6th December 2023 : Tensions flared on the Indo-Bangladesh border as miscreants targeted a Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, resulting in injuries sustained during a brickbat assault. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday night in the Amjadnagar Nath Para area near Belonia city, has prompted BSF to file a case at the Belonia police station.
Surendra Singh Bhaduria, a BSF jawan, was reportedly engaged in border surveillance duties when the attack took place. While patrolling the Nath Para area of Amjad Nagar, unidentified miscreants initiated an assault by hurling bricks and mortars, injuring the BSF personnel. Bhaduria was promptly transported to Belonia Hospital for medical treatment.
BSF authorities provided detailed information on the incident and formally lodged a case with the Belonia police station, identifying the alleged assailants. This incident is not the first attempt to target BSF jawans in the region, as Belonia and surrounding borders have witnessed heightened activities associated with smuggling.
The prevailing belief is that the attackers, likely traffickers, orchestrated the assault to divert attention and create disturbances in border areas conducive to their smuggling operations. Authorities are intensifying efforts to investigate the incident and apprehend those responsible, aiming to maintain border security and curb illicit activities along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
