Police arrests drug peddler in J&K’s Kulgam

Police on Friday arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession in Jammu Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

A specific check point was established by the Police Station Kund at Waripora, during which one vehicle with one person identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Handroo a resident of Boat colony Anantnag on board was intercepted.

During searching police were able to recover 3 Kg of Poppy Straw like contraband substance from the said vehicle.

Preliminary investigation stated that Handroo is involved in the drug peddling and is promoting illegal menace and luring the youth of the area towards drug addiction.

Handroo was arrested and sent to jail, police said. The vehicle used in commission of crime has also been seized.

A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act stands registered at Police station Kund and further investigation is in progress, they added.
