Agartala, 7th February 2024:   Residents of Sonamura, who are facing dust problems due to the ongoing road work from Udaipur to Seemantpur, staged a 10-minute road blockade on the south side of Sonamura Bridge on Wednesday. They demanded that water should be sprayed on the road twice a day to reduce the dust.

The blockade was lifted after Sonamura Nagar Panchayat Vice Chairman Shahjahan Mia, Mandal President Biswajit Das, BMS Secretary Yusuf Mia and Sonamura Police Officer reached the spot and assured the protesters that their demand would be met.

The road work, which is part of an international standard road project, has been causing inconvenience to the people living and working along the road, as the dust affects their health and visibility. The residents had earlier approached the authorities for a solution, but did not receive any satisfactory response.
