Agartala, 22nd February 2024 :  A young housewife who ran away from her husband’s house after being threatened to be killed has filed a case against her husband and mother-in-law at Amtali police station. Priya Sarkar, 24, alleged that she was physically and mentally tortured by her husband Abhijit Das and his mother Kamala Das since their social marriage in 2020. They demanded money and gold jewelery from her father’s house, she said.

Priya Sarkar disappeared from her husband’s house in Sekerkot Pandavpur Sannyasi Para last Saturday, after being beaten and threatened by them. She took refuge in her girlfriend’s house to save her life. Her father’s house and her husband’s house both filed a missing diary at Amtali police station. After the missing news was published in the media, she returned to her father’s house and filed a written case against her husband and mother-in-law.

The police have assured her that action will be taken against the accused as per law. Priya Sarkar demanded strict punishment for her husband and mother-in-law while facing the media. She said that they should be punished in such a way that no other housewife like her should be victimized like this.
