“Restoration of democratic rights is the need of this hour” : Yehchury

Agartala Aug 24: Mentioning that the people of both state and country are facing several major challenges, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury appealed the people to fight together in order to restore democracy in the state.“Only through an united fight to restore the secular spirit of the nation, the people have can oust the BJP government”, said CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury.

Yechury was addressing a seminar held at Agartala town hall on Wednesday under the banner of “Be vocal to restore constitution, democracy, secularism and rule of law in Tripura” where the CPI (M) general secretary highlighted different national issues while strongly condemning the ‘propaganda’ of BJP government over their nationalism issues.

Putting a light over the rule of Communist leaders during India’s freedom struggle, Yechury said that BJP based on the ideology of the RSS are still trying to activate the ‘two nation theory’ of Savarkar by strengthening the Hindutva and creating a division among the people.

He urged the people of the state to strengthen their fight against fascistic rule of BJP and to restore democracy in the state.CPI(M) Politburo and former CM Manik Sarkar while addressing the seminar took a dig over the ruling BJP over false promises made to the people of Tripura prior 2018 assembly polls.

He added, “The CPI(M) formed successful government for seven consecutive terms, but people can never blame the party for luring them with fake promises for the sake of vote banks”.CPI(M) State Secretary Jitendra Choudhury said, “There is no rule of law in Tripura, the constitution has been put in shelve and the mafia elements of the BJP have unloosed a reign of terror; people want to respite from this anarchy”.He also slammed the role of Police for acting deaf and dumb in much important situations where it should act responsibly to enforce law and order situation in the state.
