Agartala, 1st March 2024: BJP state spokesperson Subrata Chakraborty praised the budget for the financial year 2024-25, presented by the state government on Friday, as a budget that will help make Tripura prosperous in the future. He said that the budget reflects the vision and commitment of the government to ensure the welfare, future and development of the people of the state.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters here on Friday evening, Chakraborty highlighted some of the key features and allocations of the budget. He said that the budget has made provisions for the construction of 21 new buildings of secondary schools with the assistance of Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF). He said that this will improve the quality of education and infrastructure in the state. He added that the budget has earmarked an expenditure of Rs. 123.78 crore for this purpose.
He also said that the budget has allocated funds for the construction of 50 ‘smoke houses’ in the populated areas of the state for rubber seat processing. He said that this will boost the rubber industry and generate employment opportunities for the people. He said that the estimated cost for this project is Rs. 37.5 crore.
He further said that the budget has made provisions for the construction of 11 hostels for caste girls and 10 hostels for caste students with 50 seats each. He said that this will facilitate the education and empowerment of the caste communities in the state.
Chakraborty also lauded the budget for allocating Rs. 698.68 crore to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) for its development. He said that this amount is separate and additional from the amount allotted to the village councils of the TTAADC area by the Fifth State Finance Commission. He said that this shows the government’s respect and concern for the tribal people and their culture. He also said that the budget has allocated 39.93 percent of the total allocation for the overall development of the people in the tribal sub-plan.
He thanked Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha and Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy for presenting a public welfare budget that caters to the needs and aspirations of all sections of the society. He said that the budget will help the state achieve its goals of self-reliance, prosperity and progress.
