Two held in Tripura while smugling cannabis using tyres

Agartala, March 15, 2024:  Tripura Police arrested two individuals on Friday for smuggling cannabis worth lakhs of rupees, concealed inside tires of a truck in Khowai District.

According to police sources, based on a tip-off, Officer-in-Charge Ripon Uchoi of Baijalbari outpost detained a truck suspected of carrying a substantial quantity of cannabis.

“When the truck arrived at the designated spot, we intercepted it and conducted a search, uncovering 70 kilograms of cannabis hidden within three tires. The arrested individuals hail from Bihar and Himachal Pradesh, respectively. They were traveling from Agartala and bound for destinations outside the state,” stated a police officer.
