Raid at Maharajganj market reveals price irregularities; legal actions to follow

Agartala, 24th April 2024  :   In a joint operation today, the Sadar SDM and the Food department conducted a raid on the vegetable and wholesale markets of Maharajganj. The operation revealed widespread irregularities, with onion and potato prices being sold at Rs 5 more than the standard market rate.

An official from the Food department stated that the price hike in vegetables had been under observation for the past few days. This prompted the morning operation in various shops within the Maharajganj market to verify the accuracy of food item prices.

The official further disclosed that the operation uncovered significant irregularities. The traders are unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for the inflated prices of onions and potatoes, will face legal action. The official assured that such operations would continue in the future to maintain market integrity and protect consumer interests.
