Teachers held for mid-day meal’s rice theft at Harendranagar School

Agartala, 4th May 2024:   Two teachers along with the school administrator have been booked by locals for pilfering rice from the mid-day meal supplies and subsequently selling it. The incident has sparked tensions at Harendranagar School under Mohanpur Inspectorate of Schools.

According to eyewitness reports, recurrent suspicions regarding rice thefts led vigilant locals to catch the two teachers red-handed as they attempted to sell the stolen grain. A local on condition of anonymity said that such occurrences involving the misappropriation of school resources have been observed in the past.

The confrontation escalated when the concerned citizens detained the suspects and subjected them to interrogation, resulting in a confession. Swift action followed as the authorities were promptly notified, leading to the intervention of the Bamutia police outpost. Subsequently, the accused individuals were handed over to the police custody for further investigation.
