Agartala, 13th May 2024:  AIDSO on Monday submitted a deputation to the Director of the Education Department, advocating for the inclusion of mother tongue education and the introduction of English as a medium of instruction from the primary level.

The AIDSO state secretary Ramprasad Acharya highlighted a significant increase in student engagement within Vidyajyoti schools. However, he expressed concerns over the state government’s recent mandate to introduce English education from the ninth grade.

Acharya argues that this abrupt policy shift is unlikely to yield improvements in the educational scenario. In response, AIDSO has presented multiple demands to the education authorities, emphasizing the need for mother tongue-based education and early exposure to English.

Acharya also urged the public to actively address the challenges posed by the Vidyajyoti project, signaling a call to action for community involvement in educational reforms.
