Electoral bonds are PM’s latest corruption scheme: Priyanka Gandhi

Date:

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government has brought a new scheme of corruption in the name of electoral bonds.

Addressing a public meeting organised in support of Congress candidate Kishori Lal Sharma from Amethi, Priyanka said, “BJP propagates that since Modi is engaged in ending corruption, all the opposition parties are after him, but Prime Minister Modi brought a new scheme in the form of electoral bonds through which donations worth thousands of crores of rupees were taken.”

She said, “The policies of the BJP government are only for the big capitalists and industrialists and the poor have been left to their fate. Inflation and unemployment are at their peak, farmers are worried but the government is waiving off the loans of a few capitalists. It is not concerned with the sufferings of the people.”

Invoking family ties with Rae Bareli and Amethi, the Congress leader said that her family learned the politics from Rae Bareli and Amethi. She said that her father former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi brought a plan to make the barren lands of Amethi fertile, due to which the barren lands of Amethi which once looked white are now full of greenery.

She said that while late Rajiv Gandhi used to meet the people of Amethi and share their pain, today the PM or any BJP leader does not even go near the poor. Accusing Union Minister and local MP Smriti Irani of doing politics of lies she said that the BJP leader’s only objective was to defeat Rahul Gandhi and as soon as that objective was accomplished in the last elections, she forgot the development of Amethi.

Priyanka said that BJP spreads false propaganda that Congress has not done as much development work in 70 years as the BJP government has done in ten years, but the truth is that the Modi government sold the initiatives set up by Congress during its tenure.

He said that if the INDI alliance government comes to power, Rs 1 lakh will be deposited every year in the accounts of housewives. “The amount of honorarium received by Asha workers will be doubled. “One lakh rupees will be given to the youth in the name of apprenticeship. All the goods of the farmers will be exempted from GST and their loans will be waived off. A law will be made for minimum support price for crops,” she said.
