Date:

Chairperson of Congress Parliamentary Party Sonia Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday paid homage to first Prime Minister of India Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, on his 60th death anniversary at Shanti Vana here.

Kharge on social media post X said, “Our humble tribute to the ‘Jewel of India’ on his death anniversary. The history of India is incomplete without the incomparable contribution of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who took the country forward in social, scientific, economic and industrial and various fields with his foresight and efficient leadership”.

“The defence of the country, progress of the country and unity of the country is our national duty.

“We may follow different religions, live in different states, speak different languages, but that should not create a wall between us. All people should get equal opportunity for progress. We do not want that some people in the country should be rich and most of the people are poor,” the Rajya Sabha MP said.

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandi while paying tribute to his great grandfather said, “As a visionary, he dedicated his entire life towards building India through the freedom movement, establishing democracy, secularism and laying the foundation of the Constitution. His values will always guide us”.
