Nine laborer injured, one killed in late night accident at Charilam

Agartala, 27th May 2024:  In a devastating incident on Sunday late night, nine laborers were sustained serious injuries while another one died in a severe collision between a Bolero good laden truck and a lorry.

The accident occurred at 11 PM on near Charilam Motor Stand under Sepahijala District. As per police sources, the laborers were on their way home after finishing work when their vehicle, the Bolero good laden truck collided with a lorry.

“The impact was catastrophic, killing one labor instantly while nine others sustained severe injuries. The injured labourers were rescued and taken to Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital for initial treatment and from there they were rushed to GB Pant Hospital for further treatment”, said a cop.

The deceased was identified as Jahangir Mia, who died on the spot. The injured laborers were identified as Farooq Miah, Dulal Saha, Deepak Shil,  Milon Miah, Subal Miah, Suhail Miah, Abdul Miah, Ripon Miah and Nasir Miah were taken to the Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital. Their swift response aided in the timely transfer of the injured to Agartala GBP Hospital. Meanwhile, the body of Jahangir Mia was sent for post-mortem examination.

The driver responsible for the collision fled the scene immediately after the accident. Efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the individual responsible for this tragic incident.
