Agartala, 27th May 2024:   In a startling incident, two businessmen in Bishalgarh fall victim to fraud by an individual impersonating a Border Security Force (BSF) officer. The events took place on Monday morning when a man dressed in a BSF uniform visited the local market, deceiving vendors and creating a stir.

The first victim Ripon Saha, owner of a grocery store reported that the impersonator purchased items worth Rs 18,695. The fraudster assured Saha that he would settle the bill, including an additional Rs 400, once the canteen car arrived.

Following this, the same individual approached fish seller Indrajit Das, purchasing 15 kilograms of fish valued at Rs 4,200. The swindler claimed that the payment would be made shortly by personnel from the BSF camp, a promise that never materialized.

The fraudulent activities caused significant unrest in the Bishalgarh market, echoing a similar case of panic previously reported in Bishramganj. The local traders, alarmed by these incidents have called for the immediate arrest and stringent punishment of the perpetrator to prevent such occurrences in the future.
