Agartala,14th June 2024 :: Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury unveiled alarming statistics, revealing that Tripura experiences around 250 fatal road accidents annually.

Chowdhury emphasized the severity of the situation, citing a significant number of these accidents involving motorcycle riders who neglect helmet use, resulting in severe head injuries.

He stressed the broader impact on families, who face exorbitant medical bills as a consequence.

According to transport department data, Tripura witnesses an average of 700 to 750 two-wheeler accidents yearly, with about 200 leading to critical injuries or fatalities.

Despite efforts to distribute helmets in urban areas, Chowdhury expressed concern over the persistent disregard for safety measures among riders.

Urging compliance with traffic laws, he highlighted the vital role of helmets in reducing injuries and saving lives. Chowdhury appealed to the public to prioritize safety and collaborate in preventing avoidable tragedies on Tripura’s roads.
