Agartala, 19th June 2024: Following the incessant rain, the state government has opened three relief camps where 174 family members have taken shelter.
According to a report from the State Emergency Operation Centre, 11 houses were partly damaged in Kumarghat under Unakoti District. In North District, due to the rain, one relief camp was set up at Ichai Tulagaon SB School, where 14 members from 3 families have taken shelter. In Mohanpur under West District, one relief camp was opened at Rubritwisa Panchayat Office, where 152 members from 33 families have taken shelter. In Khowai, 8 members from 2 families took shelter in a relief camp set up at Belfang H/S School.
The report further said that the Khowai and Howrah rivers are flowing above the warning level, along with the Kakari, Dhalai, and Manu rivers, which are also flowing above the warning level. The report mentioned that the Juri river is flowing above the critical level and the Bijoy river is flowing above the danger level.
Meanwhile, the IMD has said that widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 km/h) is likely over Tripura during the next 5 days. They also predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in the state over the next five days.
