Agartala, 16th July 2024: The Border Security Force (BSF) in Tripura has detained four individuals, including two suspected Bangladeshi nationals and two Indian touts, for attempting to cross the international border illegally.
On the early morning of July 16, acting on specific information, a special patrolling party from the Nischintpur Border Out Post in Tripura’s West District apprehended one Bangladeshi national and one Indian tout in the general area of Nischintpur. They were attempting to cross from India into Bangladesh. The Bangladeshi national was identified as Atiqur Rahman (48), a resident of Brahmanabaria district in Bangladesh, and the Indian tout as Arabinda Das (54), a resident of Assam.
In a separate incident, the BSF’s Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), in collaboration with the Government Railway Police, apprehended another Bangladeshi national and an Indian tout in Agartala. The Bangladeshi national was identified as Rinku Chandra Das (18) from Chittagong, Bangladesh, and the Indian tout as Royal Das (27) from West Bengal.
“Questioning of the apprehended individuals is ongoing. The BSF has intensified its efforts against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, with all field formations actively working to dismantle the nexus of touts in the bordering areas,” said a BSF official.
