Cannabis worth Rs 12 lakh seized in Ambassa

Agartala, 16th July 2024:   Tripura Police seized cannabis worth over a lakh rupees from the Ambassa sub-division in Dhalai District late Monday night.

Officer in Charge of Ambassa Police Station, Gurupada Debnath, stated they received prior information about two vehicles carrying a substantial amount of cannabis heading towards Ambassa from Agartala. Acting on this intelligence, they established a checkpoint.  “When the drivers spotted us, they fled. We pursued the vehicles and eventually detained them, though the drivers managed to escape,” said Debnath.

Upon searching the vehicles, the police discovered secret compartments containing 67 packets of cannabis, totaling 232 kgs and valued at over a lakh rupees.
