Agartala, 16th August 2024: Dr. Bibhas Ranjan Kilikdar was sworn in as the new Lokayukta of Tripura on Friday, pledging to fight against corruption in the state. He succeeds senior advocate K.N. Bhattacharjee, who had held the position since July 1, 2021.
The oath-taking ceremony took place at Raj Bhawan, where Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu administered the oath of office to Dr. Kilikdar. The event was attended by Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan, and other senior officials.
In his address to the media after the ceremony, Dr. Kilikdar emphasized the need for collective action in the fight against corruption. “Corruption is a disease in our society, and no one can combat it alone,” he stated. “I will strive to fulfill the responsibilities of Lokayukta to the best of my abilities. With support from all quarters, we can make significant strides in eradicating corruption. Even the Chief Minister has emphasized a policy of zero tolerance against corruption.”
Dr. Kilikdar expressed confidence that with cooperation from all stakeholders, meaningful progress could be made in curbing corruption in Tripura.
