Agartala, 30th August 2024: The swearing-in ceremony at Aralia gram panchayat under Charilam RD block witnessed a significant boycott by the elected representatives of the Tipra Motha party on Friday afternoon. While the BJP party members took their oaths as scheduled, the Tipra Motha representatives abstained from the ceremony, citing a lack of seating arrangements.
According to the pre-arranged schedule, the ceremony at Aralia Gram Panchayat was attended by all panchayat officers. Four candidates from the Tipra Motha party had won seats in the Aralia Gram Panchayat. Despite 70 to 80 chairs being arranged for the event, the Tipra Motha representatives and their leaders led by Buddha Debbarma found all seats occupied by BJP supporters upon their arrival.
With no seating available, the Tipra Motha members, along with their supporters, decided to boycott the ceremony. Buddha Debbarma criticized the Block Development Officer (BDO) for failing to make adequate arrangements for their seating. He announced that the Tipra Motha representatives would take their oaths only after discussing the matter with the BDO.
