Cannabis seized in Assam after passing several police stations’ areas in Tripura

Agartala, September 12, 2022: For the past few days, a record amount of cannabis has been seized at the Churaibari police watch post in Bazarichara during police checking.

It is reported that at around 8.30 am on Monday, a six-wheeler container lorry bearing registration number NL01AA8976 was proceeding towards Guwahati from Agartala. The lorry has passed through all the police stations and police checkposts in Tripura and entered the Churaibari check gate under Bazarichara Police Station in Assam.

In this, two quintals of cannabis in thirty packets were recovered from a hidden compartment next to the driving seat inside the vehicle. Churaibari watchpost incharge Niranjan Das said that the market value of which will be like Rs 30 lakh. The lorry driver and co-driver have been arrested in this case and they are Pankaj Roy (24) and Manish Kumar Yadav (20) at Kalyanpur and Bahadurpur village, respectively under Atmalaga police station in Bihar.

In addition to starting the investigation by taking a case against the policemen under specific sections, they were handed over to Bazaricherra police station on Monday. According to police sources, the arrested will be produced to the court on Tuesday.
