Agartala, 12th September 2024:   Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha emphasized the importance of the Three-tier Panchayat system as a crucial mechanism for delivering government schemes and services to citizens.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected members of the Sepahijala Zilla Parishad in Bisramganja, Dr. Saha said, “The Panchayat is the primary means to deliver government benefits and services to the people. For the overall development of the state, public representatives in the Panchayat must implement various public welfare projects with dedication and honesty.”

He highlighted that the state government has decentralized power through Panchayats to enhance service delivery to citizens.

“The Panchayat plays a vital role in directly delivering various central and state government schemes to rural areas. With approximately 75 percent of the state’s population residing in rural areas, Panchayats must assume a more significant role in providing government services. Strong gram Panchayats contribute to a stronger state, which in turn strengthens the nation,” Dr. Saha added.

The ceremony was attended by MLA Kishore Barman, MLA Tafazzal Hossain, MLA Bindu Debnath, District Magistrate Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal, Superintendent of Police BJ Reddy, and other officials.
