Agartala, 1st November 2024: Tensions erupted at GB Hospital after a young mother named Mita Rani Rudra Pal tragically passed away on her way to receive medical care sparking a violent response from her grieving family. The incident took place after Mita’s relatives, alleging long-term neglect turned on her husband Tapas Pal in the hospital premises accusing him of failing to provide adequate treatment.
According to the family, Mita, who was married to Tapas, a vegetable seller from Ranirbazar about four years back had been struggling with health issues for a prolonged period. “She had been unwell for some time, but no proper medical care was arranged. She needed real medical attention, not over-the-counter pills,” claimed one of Mita’s relatives, who alleged that Tapas had been purchasing medication from the market without consulting a doctor.
Three days back, as Mita’s condition deteriorated further, she was admitted to Ranirbazar Hospital. However, on Wednesday morning, she was referred to GB Hospital due to the severity of her condition. Tragically, she passed away during the journey.
Distraught and angry, her family members arrived at GB Hospital and confronted Tapas, holding him responsible for her untimely death. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic and emotional, with several family members physically assaulting Tapas before hospital security intervened.
An investigation into the incident has been launched, with authorities urging the public to exercise restraint in situations of grief.
