Agartala, 5th November 2024:  The residents of Bishalgarh were shaken by a brazen bus attack on Monday night sparking widespread anger and concerns over law and order. Witnesses allege that a group of miscreants launched an unprovoked assault on a public bus, targeting both the driver and passengers, which led to an intense protest by bus drivers at the local police station.

Reportedly, the bus driver Gautam Saha was en route near the Bishalgarh SDM office when the assailants attacked, dragging him out and severely beating him. During the attack, a passenger named Soma Rani Karmakar was allegedly choked and had her necklace forcibly snatched. Other passengers reported incidents of looting and physical assault, leaving the community in shock.

The attack has incited a strong reaction from the Bishalgarh bus drivers, who gathered outside the police station Tuesday morning demanding immediate action against the culprits. “The safety of drivers and passengers alike is being threatened. We’re urging the police to ensure a swift response before the situation escalates further,” said one of the protesting drivers.

Local residents have voiced their concerns over a perceived spike in criminal activities, stating that the current law-and-order situation is deteriorating rapidly. “The rise in incidents like these is alarming. We appeal to the Chief Minister to intervene and restore safety in Bishalgarh,” said one resident.

The police have initiated an investigation, while locals and drivers remain resolute calling for the swift apprehension of the attackers and tighter security in the area.
