Agartala, 16th November 2024 :   Pradesh Congress’ President Asish Kumar Saha urged the people of the state to distance themselves from the “killer party” BJP. Addressing the gathering on Saturday, the 17th day of the Sanghati Padyatra, Saha lambasted the current Chief Minister for being “preoccupied with games, fairs, and inaugurations,” labeling him as a “completely busy Chief Minister” and demanded his resignation.

The Sanghati Padayatra initiated by the Pradesh Congress Committee began at Kamthana Bazar passed through Kaiyadepa and concluded at Madhupur Bazar under the leadership of Bishalgarh District Congress and Kamalasagar Block Congress. Alongside Saha, Pradesh Congress Secretary Joydeb Roy Barman, Bishalgarh District Congress President Gopinath Saha, and Block Congress President Dipankar Deb joined the march showcasing the party’s united front.

Addressing the march, Saha spoke about the resurgence of separatist forces since independence, lamenting the loss of leaders and the onset of caste and communal tensions. “We have never witnessed caste or community clashes in our state before. Unfortunately, a new madness has taken root,” he stated, highlighting incidents of Hindu-Muslim violence in Ranirbazar Durganagar, Kadamtala-Kurti and the destruction of temples and mosques.

“Even after reporting these provocations to the police, no action has been taken,” Saha added. He emphasized that the Sanghati Padyatra, spanning from October 31 to November 19, was launched to resist these communal forces. “We are here to stand against those who ignite communal fires,” he declared, expressing concern over the plight of people in hill areas facing hunger and despair under BJP’s governance.

The Padyatra will conclude on November 19 with district-level programs, marking an effort to reaffirm solidarity and challenge the misrule allegedly perpetuated by the BJP. “The Congress is committed to restoring unity and ensuring justice for the people of our state,” Saha affirmed.
