Agartala, 30th November 2024: A Shyamoli Paribahan bus traveling from Tripura to Kolkata was attacked on the Brahmanbaria Bishwa Road in Bangladesh. The attack left Indian passengers aboard the bus terrified, as they faced threats to their lives from local residents.
Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury expressed strong condemnation of the attack on social media, detailing the harrowing experience of the passengers. “Today, a Shyamoli Paribahan bus was attacked on the Brahmanbaria Bishwa Road in Bangladesh while traveling from Tripura to Kolkata. The Indian passengers were left terrified by the incident,” Chowdhury wrote.
Describing the sequence of events, Chowdhury revealed that the bus was passing through a section of the Bishwa Road when a cargo truck deliberately collided with it, attempting to cause an accident. “Suddenly, a cargo truck hit the bus, and simultaneously, an auto came in front of the bus, causing a collision,” he explained. Following the collision, local residents continued to intimidate the Indian passengers, shouting anti-India slogans and making severe threats.
“The passengers were threatened with death and subjected to various harsh comments by the locals. The Indian passengers were terrified by this incident,” Chowdhury added.
The Transport Minister strongly condemned the attack, calling on the Bangladeshi administration to take immediate action to ensure the safety of Indian passengers. “I strongly condemn this incident and urge the administration to intervene promptly to protect the Indian passengers on the bus,” he stated.
