Ex-CM Manik Sarkar pays tribute to late CPIM leader Khetra Mohan Majumdar at Kanchanmala

Agartala, 24th December 2024:  Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar visited the residence of the late senior CPIM leader Khetra Mohan Majumdar in Ward No. 1 of Kanchanmala area under Golaghati assembly constituency this afternoon. Majumdar, once a militant leader of the CPIM, had been bedridden for a long time due to physical illness. He passed away at his home in Kanchanmala on December 20 last at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife, three sons, and a daughter.

Upon receiving the news of Majumdar’s death, Sarkar along with leaders of the district and sub-division committees of the CPIM, rushed to his residence to offer their condolences. Sarkar had a long conversation with Majumdar’s wife and sons, expressing his deep sorrow over the loss. “Majumdar was a people-oriented person who always loved to be by the side of the people and mix with them. Today, the CPIM is saddened by the loss of such a leader,” Sarkar told reporters.

Sarkar urged Majumdar’s sons to keep their father’s reputation and ideals alive throughout their lives. “Your father was a respected leader who dedicated his life to the service of the people. It is now your responsibility to uphold his legacy and continue his work,” he said.

Majumdar’s family had taken great care of him during his illness, ensuring he received the best possible care. Despite their efforts, Majumdar’s health continued to decline, and he ultimately passed away peacefully at home. The Ashram authorities of Haridwar are providing all possible assistance to complete his funeral.

Various organizations have expressed deep grief over Majumdar’s untimely death, recognizing his significant contributions to the CPIM and the community. His passing marks the end of an era for the party and the people he served so diligently. The CPIM leaders and members mourn the loss of a dedicated and compassionate leader who will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people.
