AMC to Present Sharad Samman-2024 on 16th Jan

Agartala, 9th January 2025:  The Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) is set to present the Sharad Samman-2024 awards to various clubs, social organizations, and puja committees of Agartala on January 16. The award ceremony will be held at Rabindra Centenary Bhavan, with Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha inaugurating the event at 6 PM.

Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumdar announced the details during a press conference held today at the AMC’s conference hall. He revealed that the event would also feature Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharya as guests of honor. Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta will be present as a special guest, while Mayor Majumdar will preside over the ceremony.

Mayor Dipak Majumdar shared that this year’s Sharad Samman will recognize excellence in categories such as the best idol, best mandap (pavilion), best lighting, best theme, and the best Durga Puja organized by women. The winners in the “best of the best” category will receive trophies and a cash prize of Rs 50,000 each.

He said that among the Flowers Club will receive Best Idol award, Best Mandap is Netaji Play Forum Center, Adekha Chal Sangha to receive Best Lighting, Best Theme Yuva Samaj Club Best Durga Puja by Women Mukti Sangha

Additionally, 16 clubs from the four zones of AMC—Central, East, North, and South—will also be honored with trophies and cash prizes of Rs 25,000 each.

The Sharad Samman awards aim to recognize the creativity, effort, and cultural contribution of the participants in organizing Durga Puja celebrations across Agartala. Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta and Deputy Commissioner Subrata Chakraborty also attended the press conference, underscoring the AMC’s commitment to fostering community spirit through this initiative.
