Agartala, 18th January 2025: The body of Kalpana Debnath was recovered from a rented house in Maheshkhala near the city at 7 a.m. on Saturday. According to the police, the deceased’s boyfriend Shankar Sutradhar has been arrested and taken to the station for questioning. The body has been sent for an autopsy.
Kalpana’s daughter alleged foul play, stating, “I found my mother’s body lying on the floor. She has been murdered.” Family members and police rushed to the scene after learning about the incident.
Locals revealed that Kalpana and Shankar had been living together in the rented house for several years. Shankar, a carpenter from Jogendranagar Kumar Para, reportedly left his wife and children a decade ago to live with Kalpana. His estranged wife confirmed the relationship adding, “This affair ruined our family. I came here after hearing the tragic news.”
