Body recovered from Katal Dighi at Kailashahar, investigation underway

Agartala, 28th January 2025:   A body was recovered from the Katal Dighi in Kailashahar, prompting an investigation by local authorities. The deceased has been identified by the municipal councilor, but the cause of death remains unknown.

According to the incident report, a large crowd gathered at the scene after news of the body floating in the Katal Dighi went viral on social media. Kailashahar police officers swiftly arrived at the spot and began their investigation, bringing in divers to recover the body from the water.

Kakli Malakar, the councilor of ward no. 1 of the Kailashahar municipal council identified the deceased as Bipul Shabdkar, a safai karmi of the council and a resident of ward no. 1. Malakar revealed, “Bipul had been suffering from epilepsy for the past few years and had been missing for the past two days.” She became emotional upon seeing Bipul’s body.

Kailashahar Police Station Officer Ujjwal Chowdhury informed reporters, “The body of Bipul Shabdkar has been recovered and sent to Unakoti District Hospital. It will be handed over to the family after an autopsy, and the main cause of death will be known once the autopsy report is available.”
