Agartala, 13th February 2025:    In a concerted effort to alleviate the persistent traffic congestion in the city, the Traffic Department and Agartala Municipal Corporation have initiated a joint operation targeting illegally parked vehicles. The campaign commenced today has seen notices issued against violators in various parts of the capital.

“People are parking cars, motorbikes, scooters, and other vehicles indiscriminately across the city, leading to severe traffic jams,” remarked Traffic Police SP Sudeshna Bhattacharya. “Our drive today, spanning from Post Office Chowmuhani to Kaman Chowmuhani, is part of a broader initiative to keep the city free of traffic congestion,” she added.

For several days, authorities have observed a troubling trend of vehicles being parked illegally on roads, exacerbating traffic problems. Despite repeated warnings issued to the public, compliance has been lacking. “We have been urging citizens for a long time not to park their cars and bikes illegally on the roads, but it seems our warnings have gone unheeded,” Bhattacharya stated.

Today’s operation highlights the city’s commitment to addressing these issues. “This campaign is not just about mitigating traffic jams; it’s also about preventing accidents. We want to ensure that our roads are safe for all users,” emphasized Bhattacharya.

In addition to addressing illegal parking, the operation is also targeting vehicles that lack proper documentation and individuals riding without helmets. “Fines are being imposed on those who fail to comply with the necessary regulations,” Bhattacharya added.

The authorities have assured that these efforts will continue in the coming days, with a sustained focus on maintaining order and safety on the city’s roads. “Our campaign will persist until we see a significant improvement in the situation,” Bhattacharya affirmed.

The collaborative initiative by the Traffic Department and Agartala Municipal Corporation reflects a proactive approach to urban management, aiming to enhance the quality of life for the city’s residents. “We are committed to making Agartala a model city in terms of traffic management and safety,” Bhattacharya concluded.

The public is being urged to cooperate with these measures to ensure smoother and safer traffic flow throughout Agartala.
