Agartala, October 01, 2022:  The locals of Ambassa Market today blockade national highway protesting the drainage system of the city. For more than three decades, Ambassa market has not had any drainage system. Before the Assembly and later the Municipal Corporation elections, the BJP had promised to speed up the water drainage system. But five years have passed and few months are left, MLAs and elected representatives of local wards have not been able to arrange the drainage of Ambassa Market till now.

The locals said that the waste along with the drainage water from Ambassa TRTC neighborhood came to the national highway even an iron net was installed in the drain by the Municipal Council to prevent the waste from entering the road. A new problem is created here, due to the installation of nets, water is not going through the drain and for which that water is entering inside the people’s house.

The councilor of the area was informed about this several times, but nothing was done. Water entered houses in the area on Saturday as well. Therefore, the angry residents of the TRTC neighborhood today staged a road blockade on national highway. On receiving the news, the administration officials rushed to the blockade area. Later, following the demands of the people of the area, the net was removed from the drain and the residents lifted the blockade after about two and a half hours.
