Agartala, 16th May 2025: Amtali Police Station has stepped up efforts to combat drug trafficking along the bypass road connecting Amtali to Khayerpur, which has allegedly been exploited by traffickers as a safe corridor for smuggling operations. Despite previous interventions, illegal drug activities continued unabated, prompting the police to take stringent measures.
This afternoon, Amtali Police launched a rigorous search operation at the Naka checkpoint near the police station, deploying trained dogs from the police dog squad. These highly skilled canines are capable of detecting concealed narcotics in vehicles during inspections.
Leading the operation, Amtali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Himadri Sarkar, alongside other officers and personnel from the Tripura State Rifles (TSR), monitored the searches. Speaking to reporters, OC Sarkar emphasized that the operation aimed to curb the rampant drug trade through the bypass road. He assured that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found trafficking illicit substances.
Residents and observers have commended the police’s initiative, noting that if similar search drives were conducted by police stations from Churaibari to Sabroom, it could significantly reduce the unchecked drug trade in the region. Amtali Police Station has pledged to sustain these rigorous inspections as part of its commitment to eliminating drug-related crimes.
