The operation targeted establishments in Udaipur, Gokulpur, Matarbari, Garjee and other areas uncovering significant amounts of expired and substandard food items. As a result, legal action was initiated and several shop owners were fined.

Among the confiscated items were large quantities of expired edible oil bottles found in the shop of Thakur Chandra Saha. Additionally, shopkeepers were found charging excessively high prices for onions but failed to provide a valid explanation or supporting documentation when questioned by officials. Further inspections revealed expired food products in multiple shops, including papad packets and tea leaves from Majumdar’s shop, tea leaves from Ram Thakur Store, sauce bottles from Sri Guru Bhandar, cake packets from Manoranjan Nandi’s shop and biscuit packets from Subrata Das’s establishment.

Authorities also identified violations at Asish Majumdar’s shop, where the owner was unable to produce a valid license or weight control documentation. This matter has been reported to the weight controller’s office for necessary action. A detailed report of the findings will be submitted to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, who is expected to issue notices and take further legal steps.

The inspection was led by Chief Food Inspector Debajyoti Chakraborty with support from officials Babul Debnath, Liton Das, Shekhar Majumdar, Rajesh Bhowmik and other members of the Food Department. Officials have assured that similar operations will continue in markets across remote areas to ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
