Agartala, 30th May 2025:  The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) announced the results of the review for the 2025 Secondary and Higher Secondary examinations at 2 PM on Friday. Addressing a press conference, TBSE President Dr. Dhananjay Gan Chowdhury provided detailed statistics on the outcome of the review process that began on May 22.

For the Secondary (Madhyamik) examination, 1,692 students applied for review. While none of the previously failed candidates managed to pass entirely, 18 students who had failed in two subjects were declared successful after the re-evaluation. Additionally, 67 students who had failed in more than two subjects were brought under the “Bachar Bachao” examination scheme, allowing them a second chance.

“The overall improvement in marks led to an increase in the total number of successful candidates by 595 in the Secondary category,” said Dr. Chowdhury.

In the Higher Secondary (Class XII) examinations, 1,412 students had submitted applications for review. Although no previously failed students cleared the exams post-review, 7 candidates who had appeared in the Year-Save examination were declared successful. Furthermore, 7 more students who had earlier failed in three or more subjects also qualified under the Year-Save scheme.

Dr. Chowdhury noted, “The re-evaluation has led to an overall increase of 710 marks among Higher Secondary examinees. As a result, the pass percentage has improved to 79.32%.”

Initially, out of 21,506 Higher Secondary examinees, 17,052 students had passed, with a pass rate of 79.29%. Following the review, 7 additional students passed, bringing the total number of successful candidates to 17,059 and nudging the pass rate up slightly to 79.32%.

In total, 87 Higher Secondary students who had failed in multiple subjects have now qualified for the ‘Bachar Bachao’ examination opportunity. The updated review figures mark a minor but notable improvement in the board’s overall performance metrics.
