Tripura Issues Red Alert Amid Forecast of Extremely Heavy Rainfall

Agartala, 1st June 2025:  The Tripura government on Sunday issued a Red Alert across all eight districts of the state, following a forecast of extremely heavy rainfall. The alert, based on inputs from the Regional Weather Forecasting Centre in Guwahati and shared by the Integrated Control Room for Emergency Response (ICR-ER) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, urges immediate preparedness and risk mitigation efforts.

An official order signed by Arun Kumar Roy, Additional Secretary of the Revenue Department, directed all district magistrates to initiate necessary preparedness measures to manage the anticipated severe weather.

“In view of the forecast, you are requested to take necessary action and preparedness measures to reduce the potential risk of heavy rainfall in the districts,” the order stated.

The Meteorological Centre in Agartala reported widespread rainfall over the past 24 hours. Very heavy downpours were recorded in West, Khowai, North, and Unakoti districts, while South Tripura witnessed heavy rainfall. Moderate rain was reported in Sepahijala, Gomati, and Dhalai districts.

Looking ahead, the Meteorological Department has extended the Red Alert for West and Khowai districts till June 2. The remaining districts remain under an Orange Alert. A Yellow Alert is expected to be in place across the state from June 3 onward.
