Agartala, 9th June 2025:  A sudden fire broke out at the Banduar Substation in Udaipur this afternoon triggering panic among local residents and disrupting electricity supply across the subdivision.

Upon receiving the alert, the Udaipur Fire Department swiftly dispatched an engine to the site, bringing the blaze under control within minutes. A fire department official stated that immediate action helped prevent further damage, although initial estimates suggest losses amounting to Rs 15 lakh. However, authorities reported that their efforts managed to save assets worth approximately Rs 2 crore.

Preliminary assessments indicate that the fire may have originated due to a short circuit. As the flames engulfed the substation, power across the Udaipur subdivision was completely cut off, causing disruptions to emergency services and daily activities.

Power department officials have not yet provided a timeline for restoring power, leaving residents struggling with the ongoing heatwave. Investigations into the incident are underway.
