Repeat offender nabbed for chocolate theft at Agartala’s Smart Bazar

Agartala, 3rd July 2025:   West Agartala Police Station staff arrested a man last night for allegedly stealing chocolates from the Smart Bazaar supermarket. The accused identified as Sukanta Das was caught around 8:30 pm after attempting to flee the premises without paying.

Officer-in-Charge Paritosh Das confirmed that the arrest followed prior complaints of theft against the same individual. “The accused has a history of similar offenses. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC, and investigations are ongoing,” he stated.

Authorities from Smart Bazaar reported that store staff intercepted Sukanta Das while he was attempting to exit with the stolen items. He is currently in police custody as further inquiries continue into the incident.
