1 held with brown sugar worth Rs 1 lakh at Amtali

Agartala, 6th August 2025 :  In a late-night crackdown on narcotics, Amtali police recovered 21 grams of brown sugar from a residence in the Motinagar area yesterday evening following a tip-off. The contraband estimated to be worth around Rs 1 lakh was seized during a coordinated operation involving Tripura State Rifles (TSR) personnel.

The raid targeted the home of Mina Begum, who was taken into custody and later produced before the court on Thursday evening. Police have registered a case under Case No. 77/2025, invoking Sections 21(B), 25, and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Amtali Officer-in-Charge Paritosh Das confirmed that remand has been sought for Begum to facilitate further interrogation. Authorities have also named Shoaib Mia, a resident of Gabardi, as a co-accused in the case. Efforts are currently underway to trace and arrest him.
