Notably, the retrenched 10,323 teachers had launched a sit-in strike from the first week of December 2019 to press for their reinstatement after the then chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb did not comply with his promise of solving the 10,323 issue.
Later after long days of protest, the state government under BJP rule had put up police machinery against the teachers to throttle their peaceful protests.Police in its affair mentioned that the sacked teachers vandalized government properties.
However, the teachers while speaking to the reporters on Friday said, “Our teachers were assaulted, the protest Dias was broken, police used tear gas shells, water canon on us and now they are harassing us with false and fabricated cases”.The sacked teachers demanded police to resign from its post as they are incapable of discharging duty according to law and without being biased. The 10,323 teachers further announced that they won’t cast a single vote for the BJP in the ensuing elections.
