2-day program for 100 poor farmers of Dhalai district held; Ducks and chickens distributed

Agartala, July 14, 2023: A two-day training camp was organized in Salema under the initiative of Indian Institute of Cattle Research (ICAR) Eastern Regional Center, Kalyani in West Bengal and under the management of Agricultural Science Center, Dhalai District and in collaboration with All Tripura Farmers Clubs.

Ducklings and chickens were distributed to 100 poor farmers along with food items and necessary medicines. Out of this 70 farmers got ducklings and 30 farmers got chickens. Through the All Tripura Farmers Clubs, these poor farmers were identified and brought to Salema from the remote areas of Longtharai Valley, Ambassa and Kamalpur sub-divisions.

Dhalai Zilla Saha-Sabhadipati Anadi Sarkar inaugurated the two-day training camp and distribution. Ambassa BAC Chairman Parimal Debbarma, State President of All Tripura Farmers Club Pradip Baran Roy, Farmers Clubs Coordinator Birendra Das, Prakash Debbarma, philanthropist of Dhalai district and other dignitaries were present.

Dr. Abhijit Debnath, Senior Scientist and Head of Agricultural Science Center Dhalai gave the welcome speech. Dr. SK Das, Chief Scientist, Dr. A. Santra, Dr. Champak Bhakat and Technical Officer, Dr. S. Dutta, Indian Cattle Research Institute, ICAR Eastern Center. Scientists discuss in detail how to become self-sufficient by keeping ducks and chickens in a scientific manner and shed light on various diseases of ducks and chickens in their respective subjects, scientific housing, food and husbandry.

Pradip Baran Roy praised the work done by the Indian Livestock Research Institute Eastern Center for the last three years under the Prime Minister’s North East Component Project and the work of the Agricultural Science Center in Dhalai district.

Among others, Saha-Sabhadipati Anadi Sarkar, Ambassa BAC Chairman Parimal Debbarma, Farmers Club Coordinator Birendra Das etc. spoke. All appreciated the work of Agricultural Science Center Salema and Indian Cattle Research Institute ICAR Eastern Center and encouraged the farmers present to rear ducks and chickens as suggested by the scientists. Salema BAC Chairman Bimal Debbarma presided over the meeting.
