Agartala, 7th September 2025 : Ambassa police recovered a huge consignment of dried ganja during a naka checking operation at Bet Bagan on Sunday morning. Acting on a tip-off, the police stopped a Maruti Swift bearing registration number TR 01 CF 0285 and found 215 kilograms of dried ganja packed in 21 packets hidden inside the vehicle.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Nirupam Dutta, Ambassa Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nandan Das, along with other officers and a forensic team, rushed to the spot immediately after the seizure.
SDPO Dutta informed that the seized contraband is worth over Rs 20 lakh in the black market. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Ajay Das, was arrested on the spot.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was transporting the contraband from Agartala and was heading towards Dharmanagar. Police officials assured that such anti-narcotics drives will continue in the coming days to curb the illegal trade in the region.
