Date:

Agartala, 12th September 2026 :  A determined effort by Agartala Airport Police Station to trace lost mobile phones has resulted in the recovery of 28 devices, including several phones that had gone missing outside Tripura.

The recovered handsets were handed back to their respective owners at a programme organised at the Airport Police Station on Saturday. Police said the phones had been lost in different locations across the country, with some traced to states such as Delhi, Bihar and Rajasthan.

Investigators relied on technical surveillance, scientific methods and digital tools to track the missing devices. By following various leads and analysing available information, police were able to identify the locations of the phones and recover them from different places.

For the owners, the recovery meant much more than getting back an expensive electronic device. Several beneficiaries said their phones contained personal photographs, important documents, contacts and other valuable data. They expressed their appreciation to the police for making sustained efforts to locate and return the devices.

Addressing the media, Subrata Barman, SDPO of NCC Sub-Division, said the police have been consistently using scientific and technical methods to trace lost mobile phones. He described the recovery of 28 handsets from different states as part of the department’s ongoing efforts to help people recover their lost belongings.

Shyamal Debnath, Officer-in-Charge of Airport Police Station, and other police personnel were present during the programme and facilitated the formal handover of the recovered phones.

The successful recovery operation received appreciation from the citizens, underscoring how the use of technology and scientific investigation can strengthen police efforts to recover lost property.
