Agartala, 3rd May 2026: Acting on a tip-off, police from Jatrapur Police Station conducted a late-night raid in a remote area and recovered a large quantity of dry ganja, officials said.
One person, identified as Nirmal Tripura, has been detained in connection with the incident.
In an interview on Sunday morning, Officer-in-Charge of Jatrapur Police Station, Partha Nath Bhowmik, stated that information was received on Saturday evening about a significant stockpile of dry ganja stored in sacks at the residence of the accused in the eastern part of Kalachhara village.
Following the tip-off, the OC personally led the operation along with Sub-Inspectors Prosenjit Debnath and Amar Kishore Debbarma, Assistant Sub-Inspector Kafurai Debbarma, and other police personnel.
Police sources revealed that due to the difficult terrain, officers had to leave their vehicles about a kilometer away and proceed on foot to reach the location. The team arrived at the suspect’s house around midnight and conducted a search. The accused was woken from sleep, and during the search, officers recovered a total of 36 kilograms of dry ganja packed in three plastic sacks.
Further legal action is being initiated, and the investigation is ongoing.
