Assam Rifles seizes 10,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 1 crore in Cachar district

Agartala, 3rd May 2026:   In a major success against drug trafficking, Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with ARFIU and Cachar Police, recovered 10,000 Yaba tablets valued at approximately Rs 1 Crore in Cachar District, Assam.

The operation was conducted on 02 May 2026 near Jirighat, during which Yaba tablets being transported were intercepted.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of illicit drugs in the region, Assam Rifles team swiftly launched the operation. Two individuals, residents of Cachar District, were also apprehended.

Two mobile phones were also seized with the contraband. The apprehended individuals and the items have been handed over to Cachar police for further investigation.

Assam Rifles continues to play a pivotal role in curbing the menace of narcotics in the Northeast. Through sustained and coordinated operations with other enforcement agencies, the Force remains committed to dismantling drug trafficking networks and safeguarding the youth from the perils of drug abuse.
