50-year old man held for alleged misconduct on Tripura Sundari Express

Agartala, 13th June 2025:  A 50-year-old man identified as Md. Ibrahim from Natunbazar, Amarpur was arrested after allegedly harassing a young woman traveling on the Tripura Sundari Express. The incident took place while the woman was en route from Agartala to Dharmanagar with her aunt.

It is reported that the young woman had boarded the train with her aunt, who fell asleep due to exhaustion. Seizing the opportunity, Md. Ibrahim, who was seated nearby allegedly engaged in inappropriate behavior. A fellow passenger reportedly captured the act on their mobile phone.

Upon arrival at Dharmanagar station, the woman’s family members along with representatives of the BJP Mahila Morcha confronted Ibrahim and handed him over to the Government Railway Police Force (GRPF). The victim is currently receiving medical attention at North Tripura District Hospital in Dharmanagar.

Meanwhile, hospital authorities confirmed that Ibrahim sustained injuries to his head and body and is scheduled for a CT scan. However, details regarding the cause of his injuries remain unclear.

Speaking on the matter, a BJP Mahila Morcha leader Rupali Adhikari condemned the incident and demanded strict legal action. She emphasized that such behavior is unacceptable in a civilized society and urged authorities to impose the harshest possible punishment.
