Agartala, 13th June 2025: A minor girl who had gone missing from her home in Kathalia Gram Panchayat was rescued by Jatrapur police after an extensive search operation. The girl’s parents expressed gratitude for the swift action taken by police personnel.
It is reported that the girl, a 16-year-old student of Kathalia Class XII Girls’ School was reported missing on May 18. Her family filed a complaint with Jatrapur police later that evening, suspecting the involvement of a local youth. The suspicion was confirmed when police traced the girl to a residence in MR Daspara.
Yesterday, Jatrapur police coordinated with Gandacherra police and conducted a raid at the house of the accused Nabajit Sarkar, son of Ranjit Sarkar. While the girl was found at the location, Sarkar was not present and had reportedly fled. Later that night, police located and arrested him at another location.
The rescued girl was immediately taken to Gandacherra police station before being transferred to Jatrapur police station early this morning. Authorities informed the girl’s parents, who rushed to the station upon receiving the news.
Jatrapur police station OC Subrata Debnath confirmed that both the minor and the accused were provided medical assistance. Sarkar is set to be presented before Sonamura court for legal proceedings. The girl’s father acknowledged the prompt efforts of the police, stating that their intervention brought much-needed relief to the family.
