Agartala, 21st September 2025 :  The joint forces of the Dharmanagar Railway Police and Dharmanagar Police Station seized 75 kilograms of cannabis from the Deoghar Express late last night, arresting six youths allegedly involved in an organized smuggling ring.

Acting on specific intelligence, police officials launched a coordinated operation led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Jayanta Karmakar and supervised by OC Meena Debbarma. The raid targeted individuals posing as canteen service workers on the train, who were reportedly using their IRCTC-linked roles to mask illicit activities.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Priyanshu Das Sheikh, Nitish Kumar, Payaz Ali, Mukesh Kumar, and Sunny Kumar, all residents of Bihar and Chandan Kumar Saha from West Bengal. Authorities believe the group has previously trafficked ganja using similar methods and intended to distribute the current consignment across multiple states.

A case has been registered under the NDPS Act. Investigations are underway to uncover the broader network behind the operation, including its masterminds and possible interstate links.
