60 women receive certificates after skill training at Ambassa

Agartala, 1st October 2026 :   A valedictory programme for two-week skill development courses in Tailoring and Beautician trades under the Micro Enterprise Promotion Programme (MEPP), supported by the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), was held at the MEPP office premises in Ambassa, Dhalai district, on September 30.

Organised by the NB Institute for Rural Technology (NBIRT), the programme aimed at empowering rural women through skill development and encouraging self-employment opportunities.

Mr Kartik Patari, Principal of ITI Ambassa, attended the programme as the chief guest, while former ICA Department correspondent Akhil Ch. Das and Associate Faculty of ITI Ambassa Sachin Debbarma were present as special guests. Successful entrepreneurs Namita Nath Bhowmik (Cosmetology) and Rakhi Das (Fashion Designing) also attended the event.

The dignitaries were felicitated with flower bouquets. Senior Executive of MEPP Nandan Chakraborty outlined the objectives of the project.

NBIRT Project Officer Anup Dey, in his welcome address, highlighted the organisation’s 35-year journey and its efforts to help unemployed youth and SHG members establish livelihoods across Tripura.

Patari appreciated the initiatives of MEPP and SIDBI in creating livelihood opportunities for women in Dhalai, and urged the trainees to utilise their newly acquired skills to become self-reliant entrepreneurs. Akhil Ch. Das stressed entrepreneurship as an alternative career option and advised participants to seek NBIRT’s assistance for Udyam registration, trade licences and preparation of project reports.

A total of 60 women who completed the two-week training courses received certificates. The Beautician and Tailoring & Stitching courses were conducted from September 14 and 16 respectively, with hands-on training provided by experienced master trainers.

The trainees expressed confidence that the skills acquired would help them become self-reliant and thanked NBIRT and SIDBI for the initiative. Senior Executive Arun Acharjee proposed the vote of thanks.
